BACKGROUND AND PROGRESS
Currently, Sri Petaling have their own Carrefour and The Store hypermarkets. There is also a hotel called Hotel Sri Petaling. Food is not a problem in Seri Petaling because there are a lot of 24 hours food stalls. A large mosque is also located near the city centre of Sri Petaling. The fishing pond located next to Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Baru Seri Petaling 2 has closed down and is now left deserted. There is also a huge police station being built. In the housing area, one of the first fully developed and people moving in would be in the area of Jalan Puteri Senggang as the main road, Jalan Wan Empok 1 and Jalan Wan Empok 2. In the 80s, these areas used to be the centres of Sri Petaling. The houses those days were sold between RM40,000.00 to RM60,000.00 and the value of the houses today are up to RM500,000.00 - RM1,000,000.00.
In Seri Petaling, there are many kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools. Seri Petaling has the successful, well known kindergarten, Eduland before starting a branch in Puteri Puchong recently. As for primary schools, there are Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Baru Seri Petaling 1 and 2. There are only two secondary schools in Seri Petaling: SMK Bandar Baru Seri Petaling and SMK Seri Saujana (The best school among this area).

Sri Petaling, which has since grown to become one of the most sought after property residences in the capital of Kuala Lumpur has many to offer. It is located just next the sporting township of Bukit Jalil where you can find the Stadium Bukit Jalil a world class stadium that was built for the then 1998 Commonwealth Games. it also has an indoor stadium known as Stadium Putra and an indoor swimming pool as well. There are many condominiums and apartments located around here which also houses the Malaysia Sports school. Sri Petaling also has its own shopping mall in Endah Parade which includes its own hypermarket in Carrefour, its own gymnasium and many food outlets. You can be sure to find KFC, McDonalds, Shakey's Pizza and Esquire Kitchen here, all known to locals as popular food outlets. For those who wishes to relax and unwind you can head out to the many reflexology centers there as well as some Yoga places. Apart from that, you can also do your shopping at the newly opened The Store which is a great place to buy your groceries and toiletries with some eateries here which include Marrybrown fried chicken and a food court. For night life lovers, there are two Night Markets on separate nights,one is located at the front of The Store which opens every Tuesday andthe other one which opens every Friday, located along the street nextto the BHP Petrol Station. From its humble beginnings in the early 1980s when it was known for its isolated location and the rubbish dump nearby to the now almost fully developed modern township with its own fishing pond, shopping mall and some world class sporting facilities nearby, Sri Petaling has come a long way. There used to be one trunk road that comes here but today, it is connected with more than 2 expressways with a new one just added in, the Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Expressway.
