TOPIC: Don't We Have a Better Name for Our Properties

Don't We Have a Better Name for Our Properties 2 years, 3 months ago #6639

just out of sudden, a question stroke into my mind after seeing one of these properties pullout in one of the dailies recently that showcasing the latest properties development in Klang Valley,
I am, at one side, impressed by the flourish growth of our properties development despite the economy downturn that the whole world is facing.

I am also confused by the crazily cloned, duplicated and non-authentic naming of the new development, I can easily find 3 Saujana's, 4 sanskrit-like naming condominiums like Ayura, Ayara, Asara, Samsara, and bla bla bla. Besides, the worse going to those who cloned the overseas flagship/ signature development to their very own version that come with the very embarrassing completed work, like whole London neighborhood was brought in by Mayland, inluded Windsor, Waldorf, Dorchester and Mayfair Serviced Apartments. Then you can also see a lot of algebra terms/ shapes were utilised after The Curve, like The Cube, The Oval, The XXX.

What's the effect for such naming of properties?

Well, easy to see, first thing first, it confused our GPS system, when you key in Taman Desa, you better make sure you are referring to the one in Old Klang road or the one in Kepong/Selayang; when you make apppointment to see your client in Maluri, you better double confirm with him so that he doesn't go to the one beside Menjalara.

If there's an award for the naming of properties, I believe that the most happening category will go to the \"Damansara's Nomination\" as Damansara Utama and Damansara Jaya were all the while the residential areas for the richie rich, but right now? well, the \"Damansara\" word is like gang-raped by the respective developers, Damansara Damai, Damansara Perdana, Damansara Pelangi, Kota Damansara etc, and you can enjoy the privilege to have the \"Damansara\" word in your address ( if and only it's so important to you ), from as low as RM 60,000 properties ( the low cost flat development in Damansara Damai ).

If the developer spend a little bit more time on the branding and naming of the properties to stand out from others, I believe that the chances for them to lead the market will be brighter, look at YTL, The Saffron, The Tamarind, The Maple, The Capers, D7 ( though it sounds like Durian to me ), with consistent naming strategy, had successfully created a brilliant brand image and reputation to all his development.

So, Mr. Developers, when are you going to wake up?

Hi Prana,

I'm enjoying reading your post. I agree with you that some of the name is duplicated, just change a alphabet such as Bukit Manjalara and Menjalara. I quite confuse which are the place is, sometime have to google it first.

I also agree with you that Damansara is a quite high class name. For example, when my friends ask about my workplace, if I said that I am working at Damansara, or I am staying at Damansara, they will simply said that I am working/live in the high class area. Whereby the reality is? There are a lot of low cost house in Damansara too right? Such as Kota Damansara, Damansara Damai, Sri Damansara, etc etc.

Well, just realize that we have equal level of living in Malaysia. And the developers should creative too! =)

thanks for being in the same wavelength with me!

OMG! I just discover there's Hartamas in Cheras and Penang, as well as few more nominees for Damansara, including Sri Damansara, Damansara Ken, Damansara Kim and three more sanskrit word branding condominium, including Ameera at SS 2 and Amaya at Saujana by Malton Group. don't know when it will come to use AVATAR when their brain juice runs dry....

Malaysia truly BOLEH!

IMO, this is very subjective. Some may like the names, some may not. As long as it makes financial sense to investors, they’ll buy.
For me, I like the names that have eastern influence in it (or at least sounds like it).

Some names that score high marks for me:
Nadayu, Tamansari, Seri Maya, Anggun, Tiara

Lack of ideas/copycats:
Valencia – in Sg Buloh, not Spain
Banjaria – it’s full of Banjar ppl (really!)
Gaya – you’re full of style if you buy it?
MyHabitat – it’s like equivalent to MyHome
Names that end with residence, residency, heights, avenue, boulevard – too many of them

How about using numbers nowadays?

1 petaling
1 residency

1 avenue
dua residency
3 harmoni
5 stones
Park 7
8trium
9 bukit utama
9 madge
10 mont kiara

After numbers, what is next? a,b,c,d ???
